KU Field Station: KU Student Farm

Student Farm

Individual plots at the Student Farm.

The KU Student Farm, a program initiated by students in 2010, maintains a large garden site on the grounds of the Native Medicinal Plant Research Garden, the first of several KU Field Station sites north of U.S. 24/40. The Student Farm provides individual and community plots where KU students, faculty and staff can grow their own food using organic methods.

The Student Farm's mission:

  • to provide students, faculty and staff the space and opportunity to learn about, experience and experiment with growing their own food;
  • to inspire participants and the community to support local food systems;
  • to encourage a connection with the earth and an appreciation of where food comes from.
