Soil Organic Matter Dynamics and Microbial Activity with Elevated CO2 and Altered N Availability in a Pine Forest

Date:
2009
Primary Contact:
Research Location:
North America

Summary

Past funding provided the opportunity to explore how soil microbial groups alter their activity levels with elevated CO2 and altered nitrogen availability, in conjunction with Dr. Susan Ziegler at Memorial University of Newfoundland. We are interested in learning how altered microbial functioning with elevated CO2 has influenced soil organic matter pool sizes by compiling published and unpublished data sets. This work is done with Dr. John Lichter at Bowdoin College.
